A Sabine County man shot himself Saturday morning after showing up at his estranged wife’s home on Rolling Green just east of Pineland.
The Sabine County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call shortly after 10:00AM Saturday from Candice Frick, stating her estranged husband was on his way to her home with a loaded weapon. She told the dispatcher her father was also on his way to the home.
As Sheriff’s Sergeant Mike Ray was dispatched to the scene, he learned that a warrant for terroristic threat had been issued but not served on the husband, Shannon Frick.
Before Ray could arrive at the scene, the dispatcher was notified that a man had been shot and was on the ground.
Reports indicate that Shannon Frick, age 29, turned a .22 caliber gun on himself and shot himself in the chest near the heart.
Frick was evacuated by PHI helicopter to Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview where he remains in critical condition according to a hospital spokesperson.
Pineland Volunteer Fire Department Medical First Responders were the first medical personnel on the scene. StatCare Ambulance transported Frick to the Pineland airport where he was airlifted. |
